APG has developed unique materials and processes for catalytic combustion of liquid fuels to safely and efficiently generate heat for specialty applications. We are presently developing a “Hot Cup” for soldier personal use that will heat up a half-liter of water , coffee or soup to boiling in just ten minutes. With a touch of a button the Hot Cup burns military logistic fuel (JP 8) in an immersion probe placed in the liquid. The automatic hot cup carries enough fuel to make ten to twelve meals for a soldier in the field.

We are expanding the use of this concept to build new efficient cooking appliances that use one-quarter the fuel of conventional stoves. Catalytic heating can also be applied to any use where conventional burners are used to minimize fuel use in every facet of our daily lives.

Our catalysts burn the fuel at the heat transfer surface avoiding wasteful heat losses. They also completely burn the fuel without the problems normally encountered in conventional burners. This is due to a novel fuel vaporizer that intimately mixes fuel and air in just the right proportions for clean and efficient burning.
